Development hurdles in Miami are slowly painting a path to Fort Lauderdale becoming a contender
Fort Lauderdale is already the temporary home of David Beckham’s soccer team. While his team negotiates and builds its permanent home in Miami, they’ll be spending the next year at least training and playing at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale after inking an agreement with city officials earlier this year for 50-year rights to the facility which it plans to continue using for training and more even after its game venue is done.
But what if they didn’t go to Miami? Given recent developments with Beckham’s progress in securing a Miami venue, it’s not as farfetched as it once sounded since Fort Lauderdale officials seem much more eager and open to work with an exciting new project like this.
